Back to work

Yesterday, 3 February, was my first day back to work after my winter holidays in January. I cannot have summer holidays, because that's the busiest time of the year in this area and the season when most sales are made.

I keep a very sweet memory of the beginning of my holidays, when it snowed so heavily. Those five days I wasn't able to leave my appartment. I sat at the table where I draw and paint, set right in front of the balcony door, and marvelled at the gorgeous snowscape, the subtle hues and the peaceful feeling it all inspired in me. I felt cozy, warm and relaxed. A real gift. (And I don't usually speak in terms of life's gifts.)

Now I'm back at the gallery, using the computer in my little office to write this journal entry. February will not be a busy month at all, very few turists come to the village at this time of the year. My work now consists in organizing and preparing our first exhibition, that will open in March. The exact date is still to be decided. It's cold in here. After a whole month with the heating off it will take some days before the temperature is comfortable again. I keep my heavy coat on and regret not being able to type without removing my gloves!

The telephone doesn't ring, nobody knocks on the door and it's a dark, rainy afternoon. I'd rather be at home.
