I'm not much in dA lately and I'm not doing many fractals either. I finally subscribed to Janet Parke's "Working with UltraFractal" course beginning in May and I'm looking forward to it. I find myself in a stalemate with fractals. On a spur, I could have deleted at least a third of my submissions till now. Some caring and appreciative comments and notes from other fellow deviants made me change my mind. But I do need to re-position myself in relation to fractals. Beautiful and gorgeously decorative as they can be, this is not the side of fractal creation that attracted me to them. To me, they're a form of abstract art, a powerful instrument to create conceptual pieces. Definitely not the most popular aspect of them. I hope Janet's classes will help me find the way to where I need to go. In the meantime, I will be producing few fractals, if any. I may upload more manips or even traditional paintings and drawings. I'm searching within myself and through different media to find... what? Something I need to say that I'm not aware of yet... a more defined style... new techniques... A combination of all the above probably.

I know some of you remember that interview for TV2, the 2nd Channel of the Spanish National Television. It was three months ago, on 15 January, and it was released on the 20th of February. Things went slowly because we had some difficulties converting the original DVD into video and then the Channel was slow releasing the necessary authorization for me to post it. Light is everything of course, without it we would be blind. Without it we simply wouldn't be. It's so natural and fundamental we usually don't even think about it. It was a major actor in the Baroque and the subject of the Impressionists, whatever theme they depicted in their paintings. Some artists see the possibilities in light and paint with it their very special vision. I recently discovered one such artist in dA -not the only one obviously- and decided to feature his works. If you walk through his gallery you will find yourselves cloaked by a subtle, dim light that instead of obscuring things it brings out unexpected qualities in them. A drama revealed.
