The Community Choice

Today I got my 3rd DD , generously given to The Colour of Her Nights . My heartfelt thanks to FarDareisMai for suggesting it and to Sophquest for featuring it. I am honoured and very grateful!
When I saw the faves tumbling in I thought someone must have featured it in their journal. The DD possibility didn't even cross my mind till I read the first congratulating comment. I guess a DD is always a surprise and therefore unexpected. I am very fond of this fractal and having it featured among dA's best is a huge satisfaction. Also I feel very proud to have won my 3rd DD in a year and a half as a member here. I've been feeling rather frustrated with the progress in my work lately and this certainly gives me hope and lifts my spirits.
I'll grab this opportunity to thank all my watchers and the deviants who fave my fractals, because I don't comment much lately, either under deviations or to show my appreciation. I'm still a fave-and-runner and I hope you understand.
I'll do my best to answer all comments and faves to the DD-winning fractal but I won't be able to do it in a day or two. So please remember I'm grateful to all of you, I'm honoured my work deserves your attention and I'm happy I belong to this extraordinary community!


Light is everything of course, without it we would be blind. Without it we simply wouldn't be. It's so natural and fundamental we usually don't even think about it. It was a major actor in the Baroque and the subject of the Impressionists, whatever theme they depicted in their paintings. Some artists see the possibilities in light and paint with it their very special vision. I recently discovered one such artist in dA -not the only one obviously- and decided to feature his works. If you walk through his gallery you will find yourselves cloaked by a subtle, dim light that instead of obscuring things it brings out unexpected qualities in them. A drama revealed. I'm sure you'll enjoy the photographs of Alcove
