Description
Soft pastels on Canson paper, 50 x 32 cms.
Not so long ago I went back to traditional drawing and painting, a discipline I had senselessly abandoned for too long a time. I was lucky, because weekly painting classes started in the village where I live, so I didn't have to drive long distances to get hold of a teacher .
Every Monday afternoon I spend two happy hours doing something I have always loved. I did many exercises with pencil and charcoal before tackling colour again. This submission was my first exercise with pastel sticks.
It's a copy of one of the nudes of Joaquin Sorolla, a Spanish Impressionist born in Valencia in 1863. He died in Cercedilla in 1923. A Google search on - Joaquin Sorolla - will render many results for those interested to see more of his work.
I tried to find this particular image (an oil painting) so I could post the original in my journal, but wasn't able to. The book I used as reference is not mine, so I don't have it at home to scan it.
I hope you like this side-step from digital art.
Thank you for viewing and for all your wonderful comments, faves and watches!
